More than £170,000 of improvements have been completed at leisure and sports facilities across Uttoxeter.

East Staffordshire Borough Council worked with leisure operator Everyone Active on the programme, with Everyone Active contributing £33,422 towards the overall investment.

Projects have included work at Uttoxeter Leisure Centre, Pennycroft Park, Bramshall Road Park, Oldfields sports pitches and the artificial pitch at Thomas Alleyne's High School.

Work at the leisure centre and parks

External improvements at Uttoxeter Leisure Centre were completed in June 2026. The work included new signage, surface treatment and redecoration intended to give the entrance and surrounding building a clearer and more modern appearance.

Pennycroft Park's changing facilities underwent a major internal reconfiguration in August, followed by external improvements in September. The project was designed to make the building more practical for teams and visitors using the park.

Drainage work was carried out at Bramshall Road Park in August. It followed the refurbishment of the park's tennis courts in September 2025 and forms part of a wider effort to improve the reliability and condition of outdoor sports facilities.

Upgraded pitches and lighting

At Oldfields, LED floodlights were installed for the rugby pitch in April. Work on football pitch floodlighting is also in progress.

The artificial pitch at Thomas Alleyne's High School was replaced last year and new LED floodlights were added in May 2026. The council said the upgrades would improve playing conditions and reduce the energy used by older lighting equipment.

Councillor Paul Walker, East Staffordshire Borough Council's cabinet member for communities and housing standards, said the projects demonstrated a continuing commitment to accessible local leisure facilities.

Dan Mclean, area contract manager for Everyone Active, said the operator was pleased to contribute to the improvements and work with the council on facilities used by clubs, schools and residents.

The council said the combined programme was intended to improve the quality, safety and long-term resilience of facilities across Uttoxeter rather than concentrate investment in a single venue.
